The Polish Institute of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies has once again showed its engagement – this time by hosting an event within the 2018 National Reading initiative. The students impressed the audience by an extraordinary reading of excerpts from this year’s novel – “The Spring to Come” written by Stefan Żeromski. Their Polish language skills will certainly inspire Polish sinology students to study the Chinese language and literature in an even more diligent way than before.

The reading was accompanied by the presentation of “About Polska” exhibition which shows the most interesting and beautiful aspects of Poland – among others, wildlife, modern architecture and remarkable cultural events.

Before the reading, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies President, Professor Shi Youqi, invited Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Guangzhou, Mr Adam Bralczyk, for his first visit at the University. During the meeting, Professor Shi emphasised how greatly he is impressed both with the Polish Institute’s activity and its cooperation with the Polish Embassy in Beijing and the Polish Consulate in Guangzhou. He expressed hope for even closer collaboration in the future.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Guangzhou would like to sincerely thank Professor Mao Yinhui, the head of Polish Studies, for her efforts to develop the Polish studies in Guangzhou. Thanks to Professor Mao’s translation of the renowned Polish writer Sławomir Mrożek’s book into Chinese, it has attracted a lot of acclaim from Chinese readers. The Consulate would also like to thank all the Institute’s staff for their hard work thanks to which the young Guangzhou Polish studies (one of as many as thirteen in China!) continue to set an example for the others.
